Injured fast bowler Shamar Joseph had helped his team reach the Test with great difficulty by defeating Australia by eight runs in Brisbane on 28 January.
The West Indies, who brought the weakest squad for the Test series, gave debuts to four players, including Joseph, in the two Tests.
